I think the beginning of May is before the school half term holidays here – that is a week to avoid because it’s too busy and accommodation prices are higher.
The weather in the UK is very unpredictable so pack clothes for all weathers whenever you come! Last year, we had a fantastically sunny and dry April, then it rained all “summer”. The Lake District National Park are pleased to announce that Cubby Construction Limited will be undertaking the work to create a the new multi-user trail between Keswick and Threlkeld along the old railway line. These works will hopefully start in the week commencing 11 February and will be completed by the end of March. Prior to removing the trees and other vegetation an ecologist will assess the area and a method of working will be prepared and used to mitigate disturbance to wildlife, including red squirrels, birds and bats.
These sections of the route must be closed during works to ensure that the health and safety of the public is protected.
